Tutor Certification

At TMU, we understand the value of each session and the tutors strive to provide the students with helpful, applicable, fun, and encouraging instruction. 

The TMU tutors understand the legal implications of working with minors and believe that kids are a gift from the Lord and are precious in His sight. To be certified, TMU tutors must complete a sexual harassment training course as well as Mandatory Reporting training. 

TMU's tutors undergo cyber security training. Although a majority of the sessions are in-person, online communication is a part of the tutoring position and the tutors are trained in handling technology safely and efficiently. 

Every tutor in the program has been referred by a professor in the subject they specialize in. Without a professor's "stamp of approval," a TMU student is not considered for the tutoring position. 

TMU tutors must submit an application and resume. 

The TMU tutoring program values character and integrity. Before any student is offered a position as a tutor they must interview with the program's leadership. 

TMU goes beyond the in-person interview and ensures that all of the tutors are live-scanned. This is to ensure the safety of the students and to let our valued families know that security and safety are our priorities. 

Lastly, at TMU, the program's leadership invests in the tutors. Our tutors are part of a team and are constantly growing and learning alongside their peers.
